Description
By Chris McCarthy of Park Avenue Glass, St. Louis, Missouri This vase is 11.25" tall and 4" wide. The opening at the top is .25". "Battuto" is a glassmaking technique. The surface of a battuto piece is ground as if it were cut, producing small, irregular areas. The vase is orange & black, with two drops of bright red on opposite sides. Artist Statement: "Fire can destroy; ans yet from that same fire an object of beauty can be created. My passion for taming and forming this dangerous, unpredictable, organic material is why I have dedicated myself to the art of hand blown glass making The attempt to control and share the molten glass into an object of one-of-a-kind beauty is what drives me."
